Before        &              After
When recreating this picture, I first turned the saturation down to make the picture black and white. The ring that she is wearing in my picture is picture so I decided to colorize that picture with a purple tint. Then I erased the purple tint off of her body so that she remained black and white. I then wanted to blur the area around her body so that the picture was focusing on her. I erased the blur on her body so the image was only blurred around the edges. From there I made her nails and eyes purple along with pieces of her jewelry. After I did this, I made her bottom eye lashes more defined by adding small black lines beneath her eyes. I used the filter tool to make her lips look glossy so they were slightly defined like the woman's lips were in the orginal picture.

Artist Worksheet: Planning

Due. Friday 4/15

Your name: Casey Yoos

Title of Photograph: Jacques-Henri Lartigue, Renée Perle, 1930

Artist Bio:
Education? In 1915 he attended the Académie Jullian.
Upbringing? Jacques Lartigue was born in Courbevoie on June 13, 1894.
Art experience? He took his first photographs at the age of six, using his father’s camera, and started keeping what would become a lifelong diary.
Artistic Background:

Did your artists work in other artistic Mediums (paint, clay etc?) Photography was not his true vocation. In 1915 he attended the Académie Jullian: painting was to remain his professional activity and from 1922 onwards he exhibited in the salons of Paris and southern France.
Why is he or she a photographer?  He took his first photographs at the age of six, using his father’s camera, and started keeping what would become a lifelong diary.
What inspires his/her work?  Jacques-Henri Lartigue took pictures of fashionable beauties, French high society at play, and motor racing exploits to private moments of happiness with his three wives and lovers.
Has your artists encountered any hardships or successes in his or her life that are directly reflected in their work? His reputation as a photographer was not truly established until he was 69, with a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the publication of a portfolio in Life.

"I take photographs with love, so I try to make them art objects. But I make them for myself first and foremost - that is important."

"Photography to
me is catching a moment which is passing, and which is true."

Your image:
Why did you select this image?
I selected this image because the picture looks very feminine and emphasizes the jewelry she is very. I look jewelry and I thought I could remake good.
How would you describe your photographers style? (in your own words)
The photograph seems like it was taken of a woman in a high social class because the photograph focuses on the jewelry she is wearing. The picture style is feminine and classy.
After researching the photographer what have you found most interesting about his/her photographic style or image production?
The most interesting thing about this photographer is that he takes pictures of “fashionable beauties” and I look clothes and jewelry that are in fashion.
How are you planning to recreate your photographers image?
I want to reproduce the image in color with someone wearing extremely sparkly jewelry so that I can make it look like some of the jewels in the jewelry is shining. I also want the person I take the picture of to wear red lipstick like women use to wear back in the day.
What images do you anticipate taking to recreated this image? (i.e. describe the shots you intend to take to reach your final goal)
I want to take the image exactly like it looks in the original photo. I will have someone leaning their hand against their head while wearing pretty jewelry.

BLOG POST #2

What is Aperture? An opening that limits the quantity of light that can enter a camera. In this way, a photographer can control depth of field easily and create images with selective focus. Used when you have a distracting or unattractive background that you want to keep out of focus, or just want to have more creative options in your images.

What is shutter speed? Fast shutter speeds are ideal for capturing sharp images of sports and other high action events. Slow shutter speeds can be set to get a blur in images, such as moving water or car taillights at night. Using shutter-priority will allow good exposure for your photos.

How do you shoot in each mode on your camera? Aperture-priority is an automated exposure mode that will allow you to set the aperture. Then camera will then set the appropriate shutter speed based on the amount of light. Shutter-priority is an automated exposure mode that will allow you to set the shutter speed.    This photo appeals to me because I love the colors of the fireworks. It reminds me of Disney World (it could be Disney but I’m not sure). I located this photo at flickr. I would like to recreate this effect because I’m going to Disney for senior trip and this would be cool pictures too take.
This photo appeals to me because I love balloons. I love the colors of the balloons although I do not like the red tint to the background. I love the effect balloons add to a picture. I located this photo at Google.  I would like to recreate this effect because my birthday is this weekend and there will be balloons. And the picture looks simple and elegant.
This photo appeals to me because I have a 5-month-old puppy. He is a chocolate lab and we take pictures of him all the time. I like the angle of the picture because it captures the puppy face. I like that you can really see the dog’s eye color. I located this photo at www.flickr.com. I would like to recreate this effect because I have a puppy at home that I love to take pictures of.
